Am in the taper phase for the Hartford Marathon with 2 weeks to go. It’s so weird; did a 13 mile run yesterday; great conditions but it was very tough. Worked real hard and the whole day afterwards I was so sore. Today, feeling much better and I wish I could go back out for a run – fortunately, I have the good sense to take it easy and rest up.

Last week’s long run (18 miles) was about as good as it gets, even though I got clocked on the head with an acorn on route 107 – strong finish and feeling fine afterwards. I don’t get it; what makes for the different outcomes, when all the circumstances appear to be equal? Last week I was having fuel belt issues again; riding low and almost slipping off. May need to get a smaller size for my next training season – they need to develop a means to adjust the size on the belt like regular belts.

Finding the time to write down my running experiences is proving to be more difficult than I would have expected – either I am too busy with family or work matters or I just don’t feel like it. You really have to give credit to those bloggers and podcasters who regularly create content. Perhaps during this taper I’ll recall some of my training run thoughts/experiences and write them down. I am definitely taking my laptop to Hartford so the night before I’ll have something to do – unless of course there is a good playoff game on.
