I haven't been able to find much free time to post to this blog the past few weeks. My job has been requiring more attention of late. The net effect has been some race and injury reports have not been recorded but that's no big loss. The past few weeks have resulted in a steady improvement of my left side; virtually no more discomfort. I had an Xray a couple of weeks ago and my ball socket joint is fine; probably a few little cartilage (Acetabular labrum) tears.
Today was the 5th anniversary Heart & Sole 5K in Plainview. The weather was beautiful; 73, mostly sunny, breezy. I came in at 28:34 (pace: 9:12), a PR for this event, which was my 4th time. Usually this race is very difficult due to heat & humidity - today was much more pleasurable.
After the race I chatted with my friend Bill Halperin (62). Bill is in great shape - very trim. I was very inspired by hearing him talk about his dietary regimen: grains, fruits, vegetables, low fat, no red meat. I am going to work at improving my diet. My approach: REDUCE: fats, sugar, red meat, white flour, processed foods. INCREASE: fruits, vegetables, grains, complex carbs, fluids. Currently my weight is at 215 - lets see where I am at in a month!
